Nintendo has halted the production of the Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle, which comes with the new handheld and a digital copy of the game at $29.99 less when bought separately. This news was originally shared by a leaked internal GameStop memo, which was later confirmed by the US retailer on social media that it was legit and that additional units were no longer being produced.
It's not entirely surprising, as the Switch 2 bundle was slated as a "limited time production through Fall 2025" by Nintendo itself on Twitter (X) when it was originally announced earlier this year, but it's not the best news to hear when there aren't any other easy-to-find in-stock alternatives. At least the bundle itself is still available for $449.99 at Best Buy right now, and even with a $50 off discount too. It's too late to grab one in time for Christmas, but given the news, I'd recommend picking up the bundle before they're gone for good.

Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle | $499.99 $449.99 at Best BuySave $50 - The Mario Kart World bundle launched for $499.99, and was a great way to grab the console and a digital copy of the game for $29.99 less when you factored in the $79.99 launch price of the game. Now, Best Buy has dropped $50 off this version of the console so you can save even more off this version of the console while there's still stock left.

View DealShould you buy the Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle?
If you've been eyeing up the Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle for a while now, this is your time to buy. While there's stock aplenty at US retailers like Best Buy and Amazon, the recent news that Nintendo has stopped producing any more units means that's all that's left. It's a very small chance that the news could drive people to panic buy all the bundles that are still hanging around, so stock might get more limited as the days and weeks go on. I personally believe it'll be a while until we see retailers start to sell out, and I don't like to put unwanted pressure on you, especially when the ever-looming cost of living crisis makes everything more difficult. However, if you want to make sure you don't miss out, now is a good time to pick one up - especially as Best Buy has listed the bundle for $449.99, the same price as the standalone version. The bundle used to mean you were saving $29.99 off Mario Kart World, but now it feels like you're essentially getting it for nothing.
Remember, this bundle will net you a digital copy of Mario Kart World, so there's no game box to be found. While I'm a physical game girlie I actually like having the digital version as it means it's always installed and ready to go when my family asks me to pop it on - no faff of having to get up and fish for a physical game cart required. The game is just under 24GB, so it doesn't take up too much of the 256GB onboard storage of the new device either. If that sounds good to you, I recommend grabbing the Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle while you can. It won't arrive before Christmas Day at this rate, but you'll have something to look forward to playing once the craziness of the holiday dies down.

I could hook up a NES and SNES to a telly, without instructions, before I could walk. Even now, nothing is more exciting then taking a console, or handheld, out the box for the first time and setting it up. This obsession transformed into a love of games and game music, which lead to my music degree and dream of becoming the Scottish Nobuo Uematsu. After sharing my love of games through music, I began to share my love through words on sites like TechRadar and iMore. This lead to becoming a Hardware staff writer for PCGamesN, and later the Senior Tech Writer for Dexerto, covering all things Steam Deck, PlayStation and Nintendo. With that experience, I was able to level up as Hardware Editor for GamesRadar+, where I'm still just as Nintendo, PlayStation and gaming tech obsessed as ever.
